Iraqi Online Journalists Rely on Artificial Intelligence in News Editing and Video Reporting

Abstract

This study aims to identify the extent to which Iraqi online journalism correspondents rely on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in editing news, writing, and producing video reports. It also seeks to assess the impact of this reliance on the quality of news and journalistic reports, as well as to explore the challenges that correspondents face in using these technologies. The study adopted the descriptive-analytical approach and was conducted on a sample of (100) correspondents working in Iraqi online journalism, using a questionnaire as the data collection tool. The results revealed an increasing reliance on AI tools such as automated summarization and fact-checking, which contributed to improving editing speed, information accuracy, and the quality of news and reports. The study also uncovered challenges related to a lack of technical training and technological infrastructure, highlighting the need to enhance technical and training support for correspondents.
