The Body Without Organs in Contemporary Performance
Abstract
Contemporary performance is a hybrid and rebellious art. It is an artistic discourse and practice that is constantly affected by scientific developments and modern and technological techniques on the one hand, and by societal and intellectual changes on the other hand. The act of hybridization in performance is represented in mixing the artist's body with machines and technology, and in another hybridization by mixing artistic and scientific genres to experiment with new images of performance, reaching the point of breaching its standards by replacing the artist's body with a virtual body, which creates new aesthetics and affects the reception process.
