Quality of Life for People with Developmental and Behavioral Disorders and their Families as a Result of Sustainable Humanizing Cities
Abstract
This study is considered a research proposal and the nucleus of expanded research in the future, as it aimed to monitor the quality of life for people with developmental and behavioral disorders and their families as a result of sustainable cities. The study population consisted of families of people with developmental and behavioral disorders. 500 people between the ages of 18 and 64 were selected, 253 males and 247 females, as a random sample of the population of Taif city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including Saudis and residents, for the period from the beginning of February to the end of April 2024. The questionnaire was used as a study tool with the aim of monitoring and measuring the quality of life of people with developmental and behavioral disorders and their families as a result of the sustainability of the humanization of Taif city, by diversifying between a set of questions (rating scale from 1 to 5, yes / no, open questions) so that they cover various aspects of urban life to contribute to collecting data on the sample's experience with regard to the main study axes:
- The impact of humanizing the city (urban environment) on the quality of life of people with developmental and behavioral disorders and their families.
- The main challenges facing people with developmental and behavioral disorders and their families in achieving quality of life.
- Strategies that cities can follow in order to humanize them to improve the social integration and integration of people with developmental and behavioral disorders and their families. Through the results of the study, a set of effective recommendations were made to help people with developmental disorders and their families achieve a quality of life that matches the Kingdom's Vision 2030 as a result of intensifying and sustaining humanization efforts, provided that they are generously sponsored by the government.
