الانتخابات العامة في كينيا
(المشاكل والمعوقات والضغوطات السياسية بعد الانتخابات 1988-1989)
الملخص
شهدت الانتخابات العامة التي جرت في شباط وآذار من العام 1988، النهاية الفعالة للنظام الديمقراطي التمثيلي في كينيا في عهد الرئيس السابق دانيال أراب موي Daniel arap Moi (1978-2002)، ودمّر تقديم التصويت بالطابور المجلس الوطني كأداة للشرعية السياسية، ومنذ ذلك الحين كان معظم أعضاء البرلمان مجرد أدوات تتحكم بها حكومة المركز، وليس ممثلين محلّيين عن دوائرهم الانتخابية؛ لأن نجاحهم بالفوز كان يرجع إلى تزوير الحكومة للانتخابات.
وقد تلاشت شرعية السياسة الرسمية، ولم يَعُدّ بالإمكان إبداء الاحتجاج إلا من خلال المظاهرات والاحتجاجات غير القانونية، وأدت الانتخابات كذلك إلى فقدان العديد من سياسيي قبائل الكيكويو Kikuyu ولوهيا Luhia ولوو Luoالذين كان لهم شعبية كبيرة، وكان العديد من زعماء المعارضة في عقد التسعينات هم من قادة حزب الاتحاد الوطني الأفريقي الكيني (كانو KANU)Kenya African National Union الحاكم، الذين تم استبعادهم عن طريق التزوير في العام 1988، والذين أدركوا حينها أنه من خلال المواجهة فقط يمكنهم إلحاق الهزيمة بالنظام.
